BJ’s cruises deals need some help from experienced travelers?
I am looking to book a cruise in June of 2009 anytime between the dates of June 15 until early July. I am looking around and BJs wholesale club seems to have the best deals around 440 dollars for a 4 day cruise.
well i went to LAST MINUET deals and i found 7 day cruises in March for 340 dollars with the same cruise lines.
my question for you experienced travelers is this.
Is it a good idea to wait until last minuet even if i have my heart set on a june cruise.
I just want to get myself the BEST deal possible. i am young and money is very tight but i want to experience this while prices are so low.
will prices on last minuet cruises be that much lower come june? is it stupid to wait even though i could get a longer cruise for less money?

I cruise 2 or 3 times a year and so pay a lot attention to prices. I have found that its best to book early to get the best price OR, if you look at a cruise that you like you can usually find a week or two when it has a very low price. So it’s best to book the deals that you find rather than trying to find a deal for the week or two that you want. So go when the price is lowest, its the exact same cruise, just for less.
In addition, these days there are no such thing as last minute deals, meaning a week or less before the cruise. Cruises do sell out and the cruise lines since 9/11 have to collect and provide passenger information to the Homeland Security people. So they need to have their passenger lists complete much sooner than years ago. You actually have to be on board (or checking in) at least 90 minutes before the cruise sails because the cruise line MUST provide Homeland security a complete list of passenger at least 60 minutes before sailing. So you can no longer go to the pier on the sail date and get a “last minute” deal.
Book the lowest fare you can find right now. That’s what I have done and its saved me hundreds over the price of the exact same cruise other weeks.
