how bad would life be with a colostomy bag?
back in 2002 i was in a real bad car accident. i ended up with a t-12 brust fracture. so from the begining i was prone to have bowel issues. i since have had bowel surgey,(well 14 days ago) i have since returned home and having a lot of trouble releaving the waste from my bowel. now i have stimulated my bowel(with streile glove) and i get some movment, not enough to come out completly. i have to strain and push alot. so much i get back up in my stomach and have to deal with the faul taste and smell. i fear that my bowel is not working and was woundring how bad my life would be if i had to where a bag the rest of my life?
Well not speaking from personal experience it is never realyy accurate info.However my sister in law has been living with an illiostomy bag for over 20 tears, she certainly says its not a good experience but also does not suffer from the problems with movement that you describe, the unpleasant factors are that the bag may burst and create embarrasment, but this is avoided with peoper care, she has to be careful what she eats etc. but she has none of the discomforts that you describe therefore it would lead one to beleive it would be the better alternative to the discomfort you are experiencing now, of course its a very personal and health related issue best decided by a qualified doctor, i would get several opinions.
